Great 3 day get-a-way!

Last week we took the camper and went to Bill's favorite spot at Willow Tree RV resort in Longs, SC.  We so needed to have some time away from Doctors and Cancer Ctr. appointments!  It is so beautiful there and we enjoyed it so much.  There is always so much to see in the grounds, the lake and the woods!

We saw a couple of wild Cherry Trees and they looked so beautiful!

Hubby got in a little fishing but did not get one bite, only some small fish following his lure.  He hurt to even cast the rod now though and after I cast for him a few times, he gave up...

But we still had fun!

Hubby hiding from my camera- He makes me laugh many times a day despite his pain.  He is amazing!

A Giant white mushroom that we saw in the woods looking like an elf table for sure!



These dear little salt and pepper shakers, I found in the campground store, I love them and they are my favorite blue and white with some gold on the wings!

My heart to yours....

Beta Fish and Camping...

Hello Dear Bloggers! And Happy Wednesday to you all!  We will finally get to go camping for 3 days next week!  We are so looking forward to it!  The beautiful picture of our favorite campground, Willow Tree, Longs, SC is on our counter in the kitchen and was taken on one of our stays there. 
   Hubby has really had a rough time of it with the Multiple Myeloma causing diminished kidney function and we were afraid dialysis was very near but to our surprise, after 2 wks on a Kidney Failure diet and many prayers, it has improved 10%!  God is so good and all the prayers going up for him are being answered.  So next week he is off of treatment for the MM and we get to go camping.

This is "Pooshy" our daughter's Beta fish and we are fish sitting for it while our dau. is away for a few days camping.  When she was a little girl learning to talk, this is how "fishy" came out as "pooshy".  Hence the name-ha!  It is really very beautiful.

 

I have always loved Beta fish for their beauty and for their



cleanliness.  The bowl only needs a change of water twice a month and the water remains perfectly clear for that long.  They also only get fed every few days so they are very low maintenance!

When purchasing these beautiful creatures, you have no idea how old they are though and you may not have them for very long.  But I have had them in the past and they have survived a year or more.  They may even live 3-5 yrs. in captivity.  They originated in the rice Paddie of Thailand and were called Chinese Fighting Fish.  They live in fresh water.  Because they are territorial, you cannot have more than one in a bowl as they will fight.  You will know you have a male if occasionally you find many bubbles floating at the top of the bowl.  If he were to have a female this would be used to protect the eggs she lays and then he would shoo her away and guard them because she would eat them from hunger.  For more information, go to Wikipedia.  They come in beautiful colors from this pinkish color to deep blue and purple.  Their fins are magnificent and like angels wings or fairy wings...   They like interaction of taps on the glass of the bowl and they will follow your finger up and down.  When they feel threatened, they flare their gills to make them look bigger and foreboding-ha! I think I have talked myself into getting a new one for myself!

Loving the onset of Fall!

Just loving the cool mornings and even cooler evenings of the Fall season!  We can open the windows in the mornings and we can use a quilt to sleep at night-what more could we ask for!  Some leaves are beginning to fall and the Autumn colors are kissing the earth with golden tones!  And thus a poem is born......
                  Autumn

Basking in Summer's afterglow
Autumn approaches ever so slow
Kissing the earth with golden tones
And scenting the air with evergreen cones.

Bass are still jumpin' in the little pond
Catching dragonflies all around.
The Mums are blooming red and gold
And the morning air is almost cold.

Leaves are turning yellow and red
Adorning the lawn and flowerbed.
The days are shortening hour by hour
The sunsets richer but shorter by far.

Such a warm and colorful time of the year
A last splash of color before Winter drear
A welcome sight to one and all
Loving the changes that come with Fall!

The woods are still full of beautiful wildflowers, just love this picture hubby took of a flower on a trailing vine...

This massive cluster of berries was on the walking trail.  The clusters were as large as basketballs!  I could not identify what they were.



We always request this spot right across from the lake.  We can look out of our door and kitchen window and see it.  So peaceful and serene.

Boys will be Boys...

My brother-in-law and my husband have been flying their hand made rubberband planes at the campground where the in-laws are staying as snow birds for the winter.  Some of their planes were made from a kit but the others are made from styrofoam plates and the latter seem to fly the best!

These two pals had more fun flying these planes yesterday!!  It was quite chilly out and the wind was blowing but it was so sunny and nice at Huntington Beach State Park campground.  They brought our shared dog child, Tucker with them and he was so happy to see Bill and me!  We were smooshed with many dog kisses and hugged.  Bill's condition is too delicate to care for this little wild thing LOL! But we still love seeing him and at Jack and Sue's house, he gets an abundance of Love and a "brother JJ" to keep him company.JJ  Below:  Hard landing LOL!

Monday Musings....

Camping? You're kidding!  Are you sure we aren't going to the vet??

Well, Maybe I could get used to this!

Isabella hid the first day in between the canvas bunk wall and the mattress!  That is her tiny bulge in the bottom right of the bunk behind Bill's head in the picnic table picture!  Then she got into the groove Saturday and by the time we left Sunday she was lounging on the floor.  The weather was great, the grandkids had a ball.  Fish weren't biting but no one minded.  Night fire with a pot of soup and singing while Mark plays the guitar - Fun!

Camping Willow Tree SC

We just came home from a 3-day camping trip with our 2 grandchildren. It was stiffling hot but we enjoyed ourselves immensely fishing, swimming and hanging loose - ha! Willow Tree is one of the most beautiful spots ever and never lets us down with beautiful scenery. Our camera's love it there! I have never seen a sky like this one last night at sunset. My grandson is silhouetted against the scene and I love the way it came out. I used my hubby's camera instead of mine and it takes much better pictures. May all of your sunsets be as lovely as this! The unidentified moth was so beautiful against the blue hue of the rotting leaves in the nature trail.
