Frost on the Pumpkin

There were some nights this last week that indeed brought frost in the pumpkin, the lawn, the roof-tops, just a reminder that winter is very near...
  But meantime,  I am just enjoying the rustling of leaves underfoot, the rich colors of Autumn and little ones who came in costumes to my door.
  Yesterday I took a ride to the cemetery where several members of my family are buried.  It was a beautiful sunny fall day with lots of wind.  I stopped to take photos of field corn in the field...

I love the color of the dried corn stalks and remember my Mom making dolls from corn husks...

 

I visited my friend in the country as I do each Thursday.  Though bound to a wheelchair from stroke, she still smiles and laughs. She amazes me that she can manage to get on a riding mower and cuts the extensive lawn around her house!  She is alone except for night time, too.  I try to bring her different suppers to eat and she is always so appreciative.

And though temperatures may be dropping, the sun makes my little sunporch cozy and warm.  Lilly loves snoozing there in the sun spots.



 

Trying new things at church, practicing a song with Pastor and his daughter to sing one day at service.  He is learning to play banjo and I play my guitar.  Right now we sound like a weak Bluegrass trio but it is fun and we will improve!

Yesterday's rain

Into each life a little rain must fall....

Or in this case, a LOT of rain-LOL!

I have to keep that little green fence around my orange lily buds as the baby ducklings and bunnies will eat the buds and leaves right off!  Today is beautiful again and 81 degrees.  A little muggy but at least not raining.

My silly little Lilly girl playing with her ball.  She is so much company, I love her!

Color finally in SC

Finally, the leaves have changed in SC

 These are the beautiful Pear leaves that I have made roses from.

And from my window I get to see the beautiful contrast between the colors and the stormy sky today.

 Love the contrast of the orange and yellow against the gray sky.

 And here is the little clay pot wind chimes with the pear leaf background.

Yesterday my little Lilly, adopted chihuahua, got spayed.  She was so pitiful when I picked her up from the vet.  But she slept all night and is great this morning.  So glad.  She is wonderful for my loneliness!  My face book friend lost her husband to Multiple Myeloma yesterday, too.  So sorry for her.  Praying for a cure and for everyone who has lost a loved one to cancer.

Nuthatch Behavior

Nuthatch behavior as well as all the bird couples I study in my back yard are all the same when selecting a house.

The male selects the home he wishes the female to share with him  and then encourages her to look the place over and see if she will accept it.

She leaves, he peaks inside again and wonders why she does not find this one satisfactory-ha!

I am fascinated that this is almost October and not nesting season so I am speculating that he merely wants a nightly place to roost with his mate and she is being fussy.... What do you think?

  I have Little Lilly with me now and it helps a lot with my loneliness.  She makes me laugh and loves to sit on my lap as I type, good choice, Big Smile on my face.
