Hi there my dear friends! Sorry that I have not been posting but I fell down my cellar stairs backwards when letting the dog out the back door. Long story but I sustained a concussion and bleeding in my brain after hitting a large pipe on the ceiling of the cellar when I was falling. I crawled up the steps unable to focus my eyes and vomiting and from my medical training, knew I was in big trouble. Bleeding profusely, I walked next door holding a kitchen towel on my head and my neighbor took me to the ER. I had 8 Staples in my wound that was cut to the bone and then transported to Upstate Medical Ctr. with the brain injury not knowing if I would have to have surgery. After 2 more CT scans there of my head, it was determined that the bleeding in my brain had stopped and that it would dissipate of its own accord.
No one could believe I did not lose consciousness and walked next door for help. I know that God was with me from the moment I fell and that because my neighbor and I prayed holding hands that I did not have to have surgery. I could have broken my neck or bled to death. God does answer prayers and you would not believe the blessings that have come to me because of that fall.
Our Lord is so good! So I am taking it easy and healing slowly. And I will be posting again soon. Love you all who are my followers, you make my day!
One of my beautiful Peonies lining my driveway. One of the blessings is that since I cannot get into much of anything physical at present, I have been playing my violin to get rid of the rustiness I was experiencing with it. A few Irish tunes and I am back in the swing-ha!
Thanks for coming today, have a wonderful day!

New Header....
HAPPY NEW YEAR TUESDAY! I changed my blog header picture getting the idea from "Comin' Home", Donna's blog! Her heart is so full of music, the Lord and working with her hands! We are a lot alike. I am linked so that when she posts each day, she pops up in my e-mail and I get my coffee, sit by the computer and check it out.
This is my desk that looks out on the pond where I see all the wonderful birds and wildlife! My mug is my favorite with the lobster on it. Hubby bought it for me when we visited Maine a bizzillian years ago-ha! I made myself the mug-rug at Christmas when I made all the others for last minute extras. You can see the others on my Kerries's Krafts 3 blog posted December 23rd. I could spend hours looking at just this one blog of Donna's! Anyway she inspired me to take a picture of my own piano in the living room under the window that faces the back yard, too.
As I tear myself away to do housework wearing my jeans and Tee, I am interrupted by the sounds of Celtic music I am playing on the CD player in the living room and must take down my violin from the wall. Just like John Denver, "When I'm feelin' kinda low, I pick up my fiddle and I resin up the bow..." playing along to the celtic music or John Denver songs... I used to play the guitar and sing all of his tunes to my kids when they were little! They all still love his music... I still play all of my instruments but arthritis in my hands keeps me from playing as much as I would like!
Okay, back to the housework! Hubby and dau. Barb who lives with us, completed my new storage area inside and at the back of the workshop/shed. It is like a single walk-in closet all insulated and plastic on the floor for a moisture barrier. This will give me a wonderful space to store the Christmas tree and ornaments so we no longer have to get in the attic with a tall ladder. I have fallen once and hubby has fallen once! 2 times 2 many!!
Okay Sweet followers, I shall depart and please visit Kerrie's Korner, SC to see the Mergansers and Heron that came today!
Thank you so much for visiting and do come back soon. You all have made a difference in my life this past year and my hubby and I appreciate all the wonderful prayers to keep him going in his battle with Multiple Myeloma in his spine. God Bless!

MY VIOLINS
The violin is a very old instrument that is still pleasing thousands everywhere. My first violin was a rented one for $5.00 per school year in the 5th grade. I had the same violin teacher from 5th through nineth grade, Mr. Harold Henderson. He was kind, patient and had a sense of humor. I had wanted to take piano lessons but my Dad insisted on the violin. I learned to read simple notes of the scale, placing my fingers where the teacher had put paper circle reinforcers for Do-Re-Mi under the strings. My first learned song was a practice piece called "Ting-a-Ling. It sounded Chinese and was a piece I have never forgotten. I rented violins all through my school career. In high school I was First Violinist in the All-High Orchestra. A very prestigous position. My Mom had a blue Zircon Ring that sparkled in the light and she let me borrow it so it could be seen on my right hand when I played in concert. She was very proud of me. While in High School, my brother George visited from his travels and he brought along a beautiful violin that was a copy of an Antonio Stratavarius violin. The tone was rich, the wood regal and he gave it to me. He also played. That was in the 50's and I still have it today. It has a very beat up case but when you open it, it is lined with Red Velvet. I treasure it as my brother died in an accident at the tender age of 42. Later on, my husband bought a student's violin for me while we were attending a fiddler players convention in the Catskills. It is the one in the picture attached and hangs on the wall near the piano. I learned to play by ear very early on and once I heard a song, I could play it. I bought 45 rpm records in the 50's for example: Shubert's Ave Maria and Swedish Melody. I also played Never on a Sunday on Guitar and violin, not at the same time- HA! I learned to play the piano, banjo, mandolin, harmonica all by ear. I play the piano almost every day, the sound is very soothing to me. I will write about the Amazing Grace Carved Plaque in the next post.
