Hot and cold Weather

Hello dear hearts!  Gotta love the weather in SC as our winters are usually a mix of hot and cold weather.  The last two weeks were no exception, first frost and frozen bird bath and the next week to 10 days, we had temps in the 70's and even one day in the 80's!

And Lilly had to wear her sweater outside, LOL!

Then we had rain, rain!  Raindrop on the Pyrocanthus bush.

Then we had summer again this whole last week.

This afternoon, we had Robins migrating as well as Redwing Blackbirds, lovely!

LOVELY LILY PADS

OUR LITTLE WATER POND has one little Water Lily plant that is on its third summer now.  It winters even when the little pond freezes and brings forth a blossom or two now through the summer.  This is the first blossom this year captured by my hubby.  I just love the picture, it couldn't be more perfect!

And I took this one the day before.

The back yard was a flurry of birds this morning with Cardinals, Blue Jays, Warblers, Blue Birds and water fowl.  Canadian Geese were on the lake with their goslings and the only ones we have not seen today is the Mallard family.  But I am sure they will be coming to beg for a hand out!

MOTHER'S DAY was lovely!  Both my daughters and 2 of my Granddaughters were here to visit and it was just grand.  Here is a picture they took of us.

And here they are!

The boys were off to see Iron Man movie.  Except for Papa who was here with me of course.

I certainly hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day even if you are not a Mother.  Never forget the Mama's who do not have children near to celebrate and also the Mama's who are in nursing homes and never get a visit from a child.  There is always someone less fortunate than we are and we should reach out to these people.  Your visit may be the only tactile stimulation that they receive in a week's time or more.  Bless you for reaching out to others and you will be rewarded as God is sooooooo Good!

Birds created before Man.....

GENESIS 1:20
  And God said, :Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the firmament of the heavens."
 :22 ....And every winged bird according to its kind.  And God saw that it was good.
:23  And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth."

GOD IS SOOOOO GOOD!

I love all the birds of the air that the good Lord created!  Did he not give us just one of the best gifts of nature ever? He must have known the joy we would feel upon seeing these wonderful creatures, like this Flicker that graced our suet block this morning.  Look at the brightness of his red crown and the wonderful zebra-like stripes adorning his noble back.

MONDAY MOURNING DOVES

good mourning doves...

The Bradford Pear Tree fall trio.

By chance this morning, I did see

The Mourning Doves in the old pear tree.

All told were five when they came to roost

In rays of sun, my heart they boost.

All God's creatures are welcome here

In perfect peace no harm to fear

Bringing Beauty from far and near

To grace my backyard drear.

The tree is old and still it yields fall colors that are pleasing to the eye.  The birds seem to love it where the branches are bare and come to sit in the morning sun.  Bill has pruned back most all of this Bradford Pear tree in hopes of stimulating new growth and health for the new year and God will do the rest.

CANADIAN GEESE

SO, WHAT PART OF STAY OUT OF THE YARD DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND??

Just kidding-ha! This picture was taken earlier in July when all the young full grown geese and their Mama's would come to spend a quiet afternoon. I was no longer able to find the Mothers in this group, unless I clapped my hands to make them leave the yard. Mama always stood up first and headed the group off to the lake. They are so used to us after 4 years here that they do not care when we tell them it is time to go elsewhere. They sense that we will not harm their babies even at this size. Now that My computer is located at this window, I am just so blessed to see the teeming life of creatures in our backyard. God is Good. Geese are nice until you have to clean up after them, ha!
