Murrells Inlet, SC

I know we are blessed to have so many beautiful places only minutes from our home and one of them is Murrells Inlet, SC.  The restaurants there are famous for the sea food but it is a quiet village on the marsh side of the Atlantic ocean where pirates used to pull in and hide treasure!  There are beautiful Marsh walks where you can hear the music from the live performances on the porches and view the egret, pelicans and more.  And Goat Island.

It is just off shore from the Marsh Walk and I don't know the exact number of the goats but they reside there and have a little shelter.  Someone told me that they are taken to a farm during the worst part of winter....

Walking on the pier at Dick's Marina you can see just about every specie of waterfowl.  On the pilings are Aningha, seagull and later we saw Pelicans.

This Aningha took flight as I snapped the photo!

And here he is spreading his wings as is their habit to dry.  Aninghas have no oil on their feathers as other fowl do. Strange as they are a diving bird eating fish and so need to dry their wings often.

 

These are oyster bed clusters at low tide.  They will adhere to any object and start a group.  The top picture shows them on a cement block.  They were under water just barely.

And this is our daughter who was with us this day with her fiancee.  She loved the leaning of this tree and as it was a little chilly and windy by the sea, she is wearing a cape.  Fun excursion for we four.

Shadows are long  with the sun hitting the tops of trees as it declines and it is only 4:30!!  I do not like Spring ahead, Fall back, why mess with nature? Ha!
